Three from the Upstate indicted for healthcare fraud

Three Upstate residents are among eight people accused of taking part in an alleged scheme to violate Medicare and Medicaid anti-kickback laws. The indictments were returned by a federal grand jury in Tennessee .Prosecutors there say, 54 -year-old Fadel Alshalabi of Wahaw, NC was Owner and CEO of a chain of testing labs operating across the southeast as Crestar Labs LLC.

The South Carolinians named in the indictment are 57- year-old Melissa L. Chastain of Belton, identified as CEO of Genetix LLC, 64-year-old Roger Allison of Greenville, the company President and 28-year-old Dakota White of Easley listed as as a former Vice President of Crestar Labs.

All three are accused of healthcare fraud and conspiracy. for contracting with Alishabi's company. He is charged with money laundering in addition to healthcare fraud. The investigation dates back to July of last year.
