Three teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection to an Upstate murder. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says 48 year old, Tommy Lane Smith Jr. was shot and killed on Gordon Street in Greenville Tuesday afternoon. The three suspects were arrested at a motel in Spartanburg County just after 12 AM Wednesday.
The Sheriff's Office says 18 year old, Tijerrius Harris and two 16 year old males face murder and other charges stemming from the incident. Investigators say Smith was shot while in his vehicle after he confronted the teenagers about a potential theft.
Harris is in custody in Greenville County, the two 16 year old's have been transported to the DJJ facility in Columbia. Following the arrests, Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis said " This is another example of an absolute senseless death that never should have occurred. While the incident is certainly tragic for the community, I hope the timely and thorough investigation brings forth a sense of justice."
