A group of 9 teenagers in Eastern North Carolina are facing charges after the video of them assaulting a black teenager has gone viral. The incident happened in Lenoir County about 90 miles northeast of Fayetteville. The Sheriff's Office there says 19 year old Landon Harris, 18 year old Ashton Clark and a 17 year old juvenile have already been arrested in connection to the incident.
Clark and the 17 year old are charged with assault by strangulation. Harris is charged with cyberbullying and all three are charged with conspiracy. Officials say 6 more juveniles have been identified as suspects and will face charges ranging from assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.
Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers says a girl seen in the video sucker punching the victim is related to him by marriage. However, he says she will be charged just like the rest of the group. Rogers says The NCSBI has been called to ensure the integrity of the investigation.
