In December 2024, consumers reported 33 scams according to the Agency, the top three types included Tech, Debt Collection and Purchase.
Actual monies lost due to these fraudulent schemes amounted to nearly $94,000. But the potential loss, had these scams not been reported, could have been three quarter of a million dollars.
Consumer Affairs is warning the public about another possible scam, involving the Southern Connector. Phishing text messages are being sent regarding overdue toll charges.
