Coleman and Mayes were driving a Nissan sedan on I-85 when they reportedly swerved in front of a Toyota SUV, forcing it to come to a stop on the shoulder of the road. Coleman and Mayes then allegedly got out of their vehicle and approached the SUV.

The driver then pulled back onto the interstate and took the highway 11 exit in Oconee County and went northbound. Investigators say Coleman and Mayes then chased the Toyota on Highway 11.

Both drivers got back on I-85 southbound, and the two suspects began firing shots at the other vehicle. The driver of the Toyota then drove to the Georgia Welcome Center, and the suspects fled. Their vehicle was later located on Highway 77 in North Georgia.

Mayes and Coleman were taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol and were booked in Hart County. They both face charges of attempted murder, malicious property damage and a weapons violation.
