The robbery suspect who gave Anderson Police the slip during a traffic-stopping standoff with the SWAT team is now in custody.
Timothy Willess is charged with the gunpoint robbery of a liquor store on Williamston Road in Anderson, Wednesday morning.
Witnesses told police he had run to the Southerner Motel across the street and was believed to have barricaded himself in a vacant room.
However, when SWAT team officers finally forced their way in after two hours of trying to negotiate a surrender, they found the room empty. Willess was captured not far away about an hour later.
