An Upstate standoff earlier this month, that lasted nearly three hours ended with the suspect in custody. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Rice's Creek Road in Liberty, in Mid-September to serve warrants.
Officials say, the suspect Robert Vernon George was wanted on more than half a dozen warrants for drugs and DUI charges. The Sheriff's Office reports that George barricaded himself inside the home. He also reportedly threatened to have a shootout with deputies.
A standoff ensued and lasted for neither three hours before George surrendered peacefully. He now faces additional charges stemming from the standoff.
George is being held without bond in Pickens County.
