A man from the Upstate and a Georgia man are among three suspects who have been sentenced on federal gun trafficking charges.
The U.S. Department Of Justice says Reuben Dunn of Anderson, Marlon Bruff of Fairburn, Georgia and Ramaro Higgins of Los Angeles bought guns in various states and smuggled them into Canada.
Federal Court records say that in 2021 the Duncan Police Department stopped a van on I-85. A search of the van uncovered nearly 75 guns and almost 40 of them has the serial numbers filed off.
The driver claimed to be hauling the weapons for APA Logistics, a company that Bruff owned and was used as a front for the operation. Marijuana was also discovered in the van.
The ATF was then called in and began an investigation, they discovered the three men and several others were running a scheme to buy guns in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and smuggle them through the Canadian border.
Dunn assisted the operation by acquiring guns that smugglers picked up from his home in Anderson. Reuben Dunn has been sentenced to 27 months, Higgins got 4 years and Bruff will serve a decade in federal prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
