An Upstate man has been convicted of charges stemming from the January 6th incident at the Capitol.

The U.S. Department Of Justice says, 43 year old Derek Cooper Gunby of Anderson was found guilty of multiple counts of entering a restricted building and disruptive conduct in a Capitol building. He also was convicted of disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, picketing in a capitol building and obstruction of official proceedings.

Court documents say Gunby drove from Anderson to Washington, D.C. to attend rallies protesting the 2020 election. Officials say Gunby entered restricted space and shot took of the insurrection. Eventually Gunby and others were pushed back and were ejected from the building.

He was arrested by the FBI in 2021 and is set to be sentenced in March of next year.
