An Upstate man has been sentenced to half a century in prison for long term child abuse. The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 28 year old, Ian Tantro of Wellford entered guilty pleas, Monday on 20 counts of child neglect and one count of obstructing justice.
Court records say, that Tatro abused his own daughter by subjecting her to physical and psychological abuse. The abuse started when the girl was about 8 years old.
Officials say there are co-defendants in the abuse and their cases are pending. Tatro has been sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison.
After the verdict, Solicitor Barry Barnette said "The amount of abuse this child suffered at the hands of adults who should have loved and cared for her is staggering".
