An Upstate man has been sentenced to over a quarter century behind bars after a deadly shooting, five years ago. The sentence stems from a shooting at an apartment complex on Crawford Hill Road in Greenville County, in January of 2020.
44 year old, Rashad Jamon Stovall entered a guilty plea to a charge of voluntary manslaughter, Thursday. The shooting left Lamonte Simmons Jr. dead in front of his grandmother's apartment.
Court records show that Stovall drove to multiple locations looking for Simmons prior to the shooting and the two exchanged text messages hour before the incident.
Stovall has been sentenced to 28 years in the state prison system.
