Upstate mother and daughter dead & driver charged following out of state crash

Authorities say, a mother and daughter from the Upstate are dead, after a massive out of state crash was caused by an intoxicated driver. The Georgia State Patrol says, 42 year old Nicholas Dewayne Burst of Virginia faces charges after a fatal crash in Camden County, about 45 miles south of Brunswick.

The crash happened over the 4th of July weekend. Troopers say 10 people were hurt and 4 others were killed, after Burst lost control of the tractor trailer he was driving. Among the four killed, were 43 year old, Jamie Sloan of Woodruff and her 14 year old, daughter Rylie.


Jamie's husband Kyle Sloan was among the 10 people injured in the crash. He was transported to a South Georgia hospital and has since been released. Burst faces four counts of vehicular homicide, DUI and various other charges.
