An Upstate police department, a high school basketball program and other groups have come together to make their community better. The Laurens Police Department, Raider Boys Basketball, Mayor Nathan Senn, Walmart and Tractor Supply recently partnered together on a community outreach project.
Officers were called out on a complaint of kids being loud while playing basketball. Officers noticed that the only real problem was the condition of the hoop that the kids were playing on.
The police department was so encouraged by the kids staying out of trouble by doing something positive and productive, they started on an initiative to replace the hoop.
Walmart donated a brand new basketball goal, the police department installed it and the Raider Basketball team came out to spend part of the day playing with the kids on the new hoop.
