An Upstate Police Department is warning the public about an ongoing scam. The Greer PD says, a phone scammer is using the name of one of their officers when calling people to con them out of money.
The caller tells people they have a warrant out for their arrest , but can make a payment over the phone to avoid being arrested. The Greer PD says, they will never solicit a payment over the phone from anyone.
They also remind the public to never give out personal or credit card info to anyone who calls. Officers advise the public to ask the caller for a call back number and then google the agency's number to see if the number's match
