An Upstate woman is facing charges in connection to the death of her unborn child. 36 year old, Heather Nicole Walker of Greenwood County has been arrested for homicide by child abuse.
Arrest warrants say Walker used drugs while she was pregnant and failed to seek emergency medical care in a timely manner. On July 31st, a Doctor reportedly told her to immediately go to the hospital after a heart beat was detected for the child.
She didn't go to the hospital until the following day when she was transported by ambulance. A heart beat was not detected when she arrived at the hospital. Walker was 28 weeks pregnant at the time.
Toxicology reports showed that both Walker and her child had lethal amounts of fentanyl in their systems. Walker being held without bond in Greenwood County.
