Volvo is reportedly planning to invest more than 42-million dollars in an automotive manufacture tooling plant in South Greenville County. Volvo located its first U-S vehicle plant near Charleston in 2015.
The Greenville News reports the tooling operation's request for the standard package of investment tax credits will be on the County Council agenda next Tuesday. Proposed locations include Moon Acres Road in Piedmont or Woodside Avenue in Fountain Inn.
There's no word yet on how many new jobs the facility might create. The county's standing offer of tax credits kicks in when a developer invests more than 35 million dollars. A public hearing is required before that can be granted. That's what the agenda item is about next week.
