A suspect from New York has been charged in two Upstate bank robberies over the last two years. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says, 34 year old Edward Lee Wheeler of Brooklyn was apprehended by task force officers in Plattsburgh, New York last month.
Wheeler was wanted on a warrant from the South Carolina Department Of Probation and Parole. Wheeler was extradited back to Greenville County, Monday.
He has been charged with the September robbery at the CPM Federal Credit Union on East Butler Road in Greenville. Wheeler was then also charged in a bank robbery in Greer back in 2021.
