Police say a U.S. Congressman from Western North Carolina will not face charges after a reported assault at a hotel, over the weekend.
The Asheville Police Department responded just after 6:30 Saturday evening, at the Embassy Suites Downtown. Upon arrival, a complainant told police that Congressman Chuck Edwards assaulted them.
Police interviewed witnesses and the reporting party. They also consulted the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office and decided no charges would be filed.
Police have not released any information detailing the alleged assault.
