WNC Police Officers cleared in suspect's death

FPD
Fletcher Police Department

Officers with a Western North Carolina Police Department have now been cleared after a year long investigation following the death of a suspect in their custody.

As we previously reported, 35 year old Christopher Robert Hensley was arrested by the Fletcher Police Department, June 15th of 2022. After a struggle with police that last nearly 15 minutes, Hensley was handcuffed.

He became unresponsive shortly after, he was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. Officers did try to save Hensley by performing life-saving measures and administering Narcan.

Autopsy results revealed that Tinsley was high on cocaine and meth and his cause of death was listed as sudden cardiac arrest.

Now, North Carolina District Attorney Andrew Murray says after reviewing body cam footage and incident reports, that the officers did not violate any laws during the incident.
