An out of state woman who owns massage spas in Western North Carolina is facing multiple charges after an investigation. The Asheville Police Department says 55 year old Jianmei Gao of New York is charged with aiding and abetting prostitution and bribery.
Police say she offered a detective thousands of dollars to look the other way. Gao owns multiple spas in the Asheville area. Investigators say a search warrant of her spa on Tunnel Road uncovered evidence consistent with prostitution.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be coming.
