A Western North Carolina woman will spend at least the next 7 years behind bars after she admitted to setting multiple fires there. The Buncombe County District Attorney's Office says 39 year old, Jennifer Danielle Baker entered guilty pleas yesterday to multiple counts of arson.
Court records say that Baker set a fire in the parking garage under the AC Hotel in Downtown Asheville in March of 2023. Firefighters were also called to a smaller fire in the stairwell of the parking deck.
Then this past January crews responded to a fire at the Altamont Village Apartments in the Asheville area. That fire damaged a door and the hallway to the building.
Investigators say Baker was identified in surveillance videos capturing both fires. Baker has been sentenced to between 7 1/2 and 9 years in prison.
