A Western North Carolina woman will spend at least the next 5 years behind bars for her role in a murder case.

As we previously reported, the body of 25 year old Jeraun Spencer was found in a wooded area along McKinney Road in Buncombe County in August of 2023.

Investigators determined Spencer had been fatally shot while inside a vehicle on Haywood Road in West Asheville. 24 year old, Erika Denise Frisby was originally charged with 2nd degree murder.

The primary defendant Javorie Thompson has already pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder and has been sentenced to between 12 and 15 years in prison for the murder.

Frisby's charges have since been downgraded to accessory after the murder. Frisby will serve between 5 and 7 years in prison.
