A block party in the Upstate Friday night ended with with gunshots and a mob assault. The Spartanburg Police Department just after 12AM Saturday to the area of Woodview Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers say a multitude of people fleeing the area. Witnesses reported that a woman was knocked unconscious while being beaten by an angry mob.
Police say a woman tried protecting the victim and she was also punched several times. Gun shots were also fired in the chaos. Investigators say several shell casings were found on the street and a house was hit by gunfire.
No arrests have been announced and the motive for the mob attack is unknown at this time.
