He's among a of detachment of South Carolina National Guard troops on a year-long combat deployment to support the Army's efforts to protect American interests and personnel, amid the Isis-sponsored turmoil in West Africa.
Nikki Haley's husband Michael is on the same deployment . The Murrels Inlet lawmaker left Charleston in June. He was injured Tuesday -- no details on how -- and was transferred to Germany for surgery.
The Post and Courier quotes a memo from Senate President Thomas Alexander saying, "he's going to be okay." Goldfinch is expected to return to the Senate in time for the 2024 session beginning in January.
