An investigation is ongoing following an officer involved shooting in the Pee Dee area of the state. The incident happened around 7:30 Friday morning in Darlington County. SLED has been called into investigate, which is standard procedure for all officer involved shooting across the state.

Darlington County Sheriff James Hudson said " It is an officer involved shooting. And naturally, we have turned everything over to SLED. So they can investigate it. We are just going to work through it to see what the outcome is going to be. Hopefully, everything will turn out OK for everybody. And I know I keep saying this, we just have to do some hard praying. Because it is just too much that is going on. People are hurting. And we just have to find a way to help people. “
This is the 2nd officer involved shooting in the state in as many days, as SLED is investigating an exchange of gunfire Thursday between a suspect and officers in North Myrtle Beach. It's also the 2nd officer involved shooting in Darlington County this year, as a suspect was shot and killed by a Deputy there back in April. The deputy in that incident has since been cleared of any wrong doing. No details have been released yet on what led to the incident or injuries suffered in the shooting.
