When it comes to the horror movie genre, one of the most feared villains of all time is Pinhead; the pincushion-domed leader of the Cenobites from the 'Hellraiser' franchise. Now, for the first time, Pinhead will be making the move to television. HBO has secured the rights to 'Hellraiser' in a new deal to bring the iconic villain to the network for a new series being developed.
The new series will be produced by David Gordon Green, whose first foray into the horror genre was a huge success, directing the reboot of 'Halloween.' Green will also direct the first few episodes and will be joined in producing by Mark Verheiden, Michael Dougherty, Dan Farah, Roy Lee, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, Eric Gardner, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, Andrew Farah and Adam Salzman. The series will be a continuation and expansion of the 'Hellraiser' mythology.
'Hellraiser' has remained a pop culture icon for over 30 years, spawning 10 movies. There is currently a 'Hellraiser' movie currently in the works, but is not related to the upcoming HBO series. It is unknown when fans can expect to see the new 'Hellraiser' series, but with Green at the helm, expectations are high.
