Any time someone visits the zoo, they are greeted with signs telling them not to feed the animals. However, the Dallas Zoo has decided to break their rule, asking the metroplex for help restocking their food supply. The zoo recently shared a link for guests to donate their tree trimmings in order to help feed the animals.

With many large animals throughout the park, the Dallas Zoo goes through “hundreds of pounds of ‘browse’ every day. Browse are tree parts such as tender shoots, twigs, and green leaves of trees and shrubs. Now, the zoo is hoping DFW can help them restock by asking for their tree trimmings. “Tree trimming this weekend? Many of our animals eat browse. Learn more about donating your freshly cut tree trimming or felled landscaping at http://DallasZoo.com/browse,” said the zoo.

According to CW33, the staff at the Dallas zoo also use browse as a way to add enrichment to the lives of our animals. The zoo is even willing to come pick up the tree trimmings form certain areas. Hopefully soon they are restocked and the animals are fed.
