Look, this heat is brutal for all of us right now, even those who originally hail from the jungles of Central and South America.
North Richland Hills police were recently called out on a report of an animal that was described as “possibly a monkey or small kangaroo.”
Turns out, it was a kinkajou, a small exotic mammal, more closely related to a raccoon than a monkey, that originally comes from Central and South America.
The poor little guy was just trying to find some relief from this brutal summer heat, and when the police found him, he had some burns on his paws from the hot concrete.
Other than that, the kinkajou, which is also commonly referred to as “honey bears,” was otherwise okay.
According to UPI, officers were able to safely secure it, and the kinkajou was taken to the North Richland Hills Animal Services Center and later transferred to Nature's Edge Wildlife and Reptile Rescue.
