Earlier this year, it was announced that the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival would be returning after a two-year hiatus. The anticipated 2022 lineup features Billie Ellish, Harry Styles, Swedish House Mafia, and Kanye West, aka Ye, as headliners.

Nonetheless, some fans are calling for West to be removed from the main stage, due to his recent behavior and online tactics. A Change.org petition titled “Remove Kanye from Coachella!” has already received over 30,000 signatures (out of 50,000 signatures).
The petition description reads: “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim [Kardashian], Pete [Davidson], and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well. Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this. Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform. Please sign & share!”
West previously threatened to pull out of the festival over a viral clip from a Billie Ellish concert. The “Hurricane” rapper perceived that Ellish dissed his protege Travis Scott when she stopped her show to help a distressed fan. The concert clip surfaced after Scott’s Astroworld incident –which resulted in hundreds of injuries and 10 fatalities. West demanded an apology from Ellish on behalf of Scott. The “Happier Than Ever” singer responded on Twitter saying “Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan.”
Coachella 2022 is set for two consecutive weekends, April 15-17 and April 22-24. Other artists on the bill are Lil Baby, Phoebe Bridgers, FINNEAS, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Carly Rae Jepsen, Karol G, Big Sean and many more. Ye, who has played Coachella five times, is scheduled to close out the festival on Sunday.
