Fans are still talking about when “Law & Order” detective Elliot Stabler professed his love for Olivia Benson on an emotional episode of the show spin off “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

In an interview with E! News, show alum Christopher Meloni opened up about the shocking scene that made headlines throughout the TV world.

"I really mean this, I'm not being queer or cagey, I just think it's unfair and outside my scope to answer that," Christopher said when asked if Stabler really meant to say "I love you" to Benson. "That's what I loved about the moment. It's an interpretative moment. It was specifically written that way for a question like that."

Fans of the show are not certain that Meloni's character meant to reveal his feelings for his partner, played by Mariska Hargitay. Stabler’s behavior had gotten increasingly erratic after the death of his wife, and the detective had since been struggling with PTSD.

"The core of the show has been our relationship, thus far," he shared. "Even though we aren't on camera a great deal together, there's something about leading up to our scenes that becomes so compelling I think for the audience and for us."

Meloni later went to on to say that he actually spoke to his personal therapist about his role on the show.

"We were just talking, kind of breaking down a few elements," he explained. "I think that the psychology of both men is really fascinating," referring to fellow show detective Richard Wheatley, played by Dylan McDermott.
