The Padres bounced back in impressive fashion after being swept by the Rays over the weekend, by shutting out the Reds in Cincinnati on Monday afternoon. Michael King fought traffic on the basepaths for much of the afternoon, but held the Reds scoreless over 6 innings. The Padres scored 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning by stringing together six consecutive hits. Jackson Merrill flashed his leather in the outfield, robbing a home run almost effortlessly. Kyle Hart and Wandy Peralta combined for three scoreless frames in relief, as the Padres won 5-0.
