Randy Vasquez's breakout season continued in Seattle on Friday night, as he tossed six shutout innings to help lead the Padres to a 2-0 win over the Mariners. Miguel Andujar's RBI-double in the 4th put the Padres on top 1-0, and they added an insurance run in the 7th on Sung-Mun Song's groundout to first base. The M's had a chance to get back in the game in the 8th inning, when Jason Adam allowed an infield single and issued a walk. With two men on and two outs and the Padres leading 2-0, Craig Stammen opted to bring in Mason Miller for a four-out save. Miller gave up a bloop infield single right in front of Xander Bogaerts that shattered the bat of Randy Arozarena, loading the bases with two outs for Connor Joe. Joe worked a full count on Miller, but Miller struck him out looking on a vicious slider to strand the bases loaded. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Miller issued a leadoff walk to J.P. Crawford. After striking out Rob Refsnyder, Cole Young singled to right, putting the tying run on base and bringing the go-ahead run to the plate with one out. But Miller would strike out the next two batters he'd face to secure his 14th save of the season. Walker Buehler will start for the Padres opposite Logan Gilbert.
