After locking up head coach Sean McDermott to a long-term contract contract extension on Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills locked up a key piece to the offensive line on Thursday.
The team announced that it has signed left tackle Dion Dawkins to a four-year contract extension that will tie him to the Bills through the 2024 season.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Dawkins' extension with the Bills is worth up to $60 million.
Without more specific details on the deal just yet, Dawkins' contract averages $15 million per-season, which would make him the fifth-highest paid left tackle in the National Football League. That would put Dawkins just behind Houston Texans tackle Laremy Tunsil, Indianapolis Colts tackle Anthony Castonzo, Tennessee Titans tackle Taylor Lewan, and New York Giants tackle Nate Solder.
Since being drafted in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Temple, Dawkins has played in all 48 games for the Bills. He has started 43 of those games, only coming off the bench in five games during his rookie season.
Dawkins is the only Bills player to have a receiving touchdown in each of the last two seasons.
