A local father is confused to why his son had to remove his Hooters restaurant themed mask at school, after his son has been wearing it on campus for weeks.
"There is nothing offensive or derogatory about this mask," Greg Golba said.
Golba is the father of 11 year old Ian, who was asked to take off the mask on Tuesday.
"I don't think it's offensive at all, it's just a restaurant," he added.
Ian told WESH that his fifth grade teacher at Sunset Park Elementary in Windermere was the on who told him to take it off.
"I wore it and she said it was not appropriate for school and I asked her why and she said if you really want to know why go ask the principal."
Following the conversation, Ian went and asked his principal what was wrong with his specific the face mask.
"He told me to take it off three times and I asked him why, he said just take it off, so I took it off and I had to wear a different mask."
The school district said the the Hooters themed mask does violate dress code, "The principal at each school reserves the right to determine what appropriate dress is for the school."
