American Airlines is expanding the partnership it has with Pecan Lodge BBQ.
Initially, only customers on first class flights from Dallas to New York were able to order Pecan Lodge to enjoy as their in-flight meal.
Beginning September 9 though, the offer will be extended to all first-class domestic flights departing from DFW.
According to the Dallas Morning News, passengers will be able to preorder Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or their barbecue platter for dinner when each is available for preorder.
The meats for the meal will be seasoned and slow-cooked at Pecan Lodge after which it is packaged to “preserve flavor and quality, with American’s catering partners preparing preordered entrees for in-flight service,” according to the airline.
Justin Fourton, pit master and co-owner of Pecan Lodge, said in a statement, “Barbecue is deeply personal to us, so scaling these dishes for an airline without compromising the quality and flavors our guests expect was incredibly important.
“Working alongside American has made it possible to share a true taste of Texas with travelers from around the country, and that’s something we’re really proud of.”
