For the last few months, the city of Dallas has discussed the eventual return of E-Scooters, despite many not wanting to see them back on the streets. Now, residents are being warned the scooters will officially return over the next few weeks. While new rules and a limit on the number of scooters are now in place, some are wondering if the changes will make a difference.
Back in 2020, the city of Dallas banned E-Scooters after a number of complaints from residents about the rental scooters being placed all over the city. Now, after much discussion the E-Scooters are set to return over the next few weeks, though no official date has been announced. This time around, the city will only license three vendors with up to 500 rental vehicles each.
According to Fox 4 News, companies will also have to comply with new speed and location restrictions. "We are going to be pushing this much needed transportation mode out into neighborhoods that desperately need them, that maybe didn't get to see them the first round," said Dallas city councilmember Omar Narvaez. With scooters coming soon, hopefully this time around things run a little smoother.
