Today we learned that it’s actually legal to keep a lemur as a pet in the state of Texas.
We learned this because the Belton Police Department were called to apprehend someone’s pet lemur that had gotten loose and was roaming the streets.
The BPD wrote on social media that their suspect “was described as fast, furry and refusing to cooperate.”
According to UPI, Texas allows lemurs to be kept as exotic pets without special permits, though sellers must be licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
