A new guide from the luxury lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveler highlighted 17 beautiful scenic routes for road trips across the U.S., and two traversing through Texas were mentioned that are “worth every single mile” of that trip.

The first, and receiving the most praise, was the drive on the Hill Country Route, a 300-mile trek starting in Lampasas, with stops in Marble Falls, Fredericksburg, Austin, and New Braunfels, and ending in Brenham.

The magazine said travelers can visit "award-winning vineyards and boutique lavender and olive tree farms," or they can linger for a week or more by making additional detours in other small Texas towns.

The second route from Texas mentioned was the portion of Route 66 that travels from St. Louis to Amarillo.

The magazine says this portion is the “most underrated stretch” of the route, and gives travelers “opportunities to see the sights,” or enjoy a "classic American meal" at a roadside diner.
