Social media was flooded with photos of people showing off their “I Voted” stickers yesterday on Election Day. Of course, some that voted in DFW may have noticed a sticker that looked a little different than the one they received in past years. That’s because a new election day sticker was designed by DFW student Kernell Slack for this year’s election after he won a local contest to promote civic engagement.

March to the Polls, along with Dallas County Elections Department, Raise Your Hand Texas and The Dallas Examiner, recently launched a contest to create a new “I Voted” sticker. After receiving dozens of submissions from students and adults, the group selected 17-year-old Kernell Slack of Townview’s submission. According to Dallas Morning News, Slack’s sticker featured a version of the city skyline, framed by the words: “I VOTED. YOU CAN TOO.”

Slack claims he came up with the concept to “inspire people to get out and vote.” Tens of thousands of stickers with his design were distributed to polling places around DFW. Hopefully his design helped inspire others to vote.
