A mother in East Texas was arrested earlier this week following accusations that she handed out Jell-O shots to students at an elementary school Christmas party.

33-year-old Teresa Isabel Bernal told police she didn't know the Jell-O shots had alcohol in them when she handed them out to several fifth graders at the party.  Some of the students who drank them experienced stomach aches and headaches.  Some even threw up and passed out, according to WFAA.

After visiting the at-home business where Bernal purchased the shots, officers learned they were being advertised as having Smirnoff vodka, which generally contains at least 40% alcohol.

Bernal was charged with injury to a child and booked into the Smith County Jail on a $75,000 bond. She was released the same day.
