Arlington officials confirm tailgating will be allowed before FIFA World Cup matches

Recent rumors of a nationwide ban on tailgating sent soccer fans into a tizzy regarding upcoming FIFA World Cup.


Can any sports really be enjoyed if you’re not stuffed with grilled meat and booze before you even step foot into the stadium?


Thankfully, soccer fans can rest with ease as Arlington officials confirmed that tailgating will be allowed outside AT&T Stadium before worlds collide at the World Cup this summer.

Per FOX 4, at a recent city council meeting Arlington’s Deputy Chief of Police Steve Williams clarified that tailgating is legal, and instead his officers would be focusing on enforcing laws against illegal behavior during matches at AT&T Stadium.

He said, “Yeah, so in regard to the common question about tailgating, so, there's obviously going to be a very, very robust public safety plan that's in place for this entire event.”

FIFA even responded to the rumors of a nationwide ban on tailgating, saying it does not have a formal policy prohibiting tailgating and that any restrictions will be determined on a venue-by-venue basis in coordination with local authorities and public safety officials.
