It was not the most relaxing of holidays for residents near the Valley Ranch suburb in Irving.
A group of feral hogs have been wreaking havoc in the neighborhood, tearing up yards and landscaping and "and leaving a trail of destruction," according to WFAA, near Barbara Bush Middle School.
While the City of Irving has hired a wildlife contractor to handle the problem, neighbors are growing restless after repairing their yards only to have them destroyed again by the wild pigs.
Homeowner Eric Mendez has resorted using a slingshot to attempt to drive the hogs away.
According to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, feral hogs cause an estimated $400 million in
damage annually in Texas alone, with national estimates reaching $1.5 billion annually.
