When Carlie Butler first set out on her trip from Abilene to Lipan, she probably had no idea her road trip included a stop in Australia.
Well, it certainly must have felt like it after she saw a kangaroo hopping along I-20 just outside of Gordon.
Butler operates a mobile coffee trailer and was on her way to Lipan for a job. The trailer broke down, and while she waited (four hours!) for a tow truck, that’s when the kangaroo decided to keep her company.
She told NBC DFW, “It definitely turned a difficult day into something wildly positive. My small business has received more publicity in this past week than I ever thought possible! We’re now known locally and beyond as the coffee truck with the kangaroo.”
Butler says the kangaroo spent some time hopping on the service road before making its way onto some property in the rural area, which she assumes is where the animal came from.
