For many, the worst part of their day comes when they have to drive to and from work. With many drivers on the road commuting at the same time, the daily traffic can be extremely frustrating. However, apparently no one in Texas has it as bad as Garland, as the city was recently ranked as having one of the worst commutes in the United States.

SmartAsset recently shared the results of a study to find the cities with the worst commutes in America. The study looked at data from the 100 largest U.S. cities across six categories: percentage of workers who commute; average travel time to work; transportation as a percentage of income; percentage of workers with a commute longer than 60 minutes; and five-year change in both travel time and percentage of workers with long commutes. Based on the results, the study named Garland as having the third worst commute in America.

While traffic and construction on I-635 played a huge role in the ranking, the city also scored high on average number of commuters and commute time, according to Dallas Culture Map. “Overall, the average commute time has increased by 2.37% between 2016 and 2021," said the report. Sadly, it seems Garland drivers just can’t catch a break.
