Over the last few months, DFW has been abuzz with grocery store anticipation as multiple H-E-B locations have begun popping up throughout the metroplex. With more on the way, another Texas grocery store staple has decided to open up a new North Texas location as well. Albertsons recently announced they will be opening their first new location in Irving in 15 years.

Albertson’s grocery stores are well known throughout North Texas, but with many locations throughout the metroplex already, the chain has not opened a new DFW store in several years. However, that is about to change as a new store will open up later this year in south Irving. According to Dallas Morning News, the new Albertsons will be located at 2200 W. Shady Grove Road, which was vacated by Fiesta Mart a few years ago.

“It took us about two years to get to this point where we had a good tenant; we had a good landlord that was willing to work with us. I think the neighborhood will be better off because of it. I know they will be,” said Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. Albertsons will spend about $250,000 to renovate the building. Soon DFW will have too many grocery store options to choose from.
