Most of us spend our lives looking for our one, true love, right? And when you find that person, you wed, and hopefully live together happily ever after.
Apparently, that does not happen that often in the Lone Star State.
New research from Study Finds, conducted by DivorceLawyers.ca, shows that marriages last the second-shortest amount of time in Texas, averaging 17.6 years. The only state worse is Alaska, where marriages last just 16.8 years.
While the reasons why marriages end so quickly varies from state to state, the team from Divorce Lawyerssays that states with "high stress and mobility disrupt the stability needed for long-term relationships."
The states where marriages seem to last the longest include Iowa (22 years), Montana (22.1 years), Vermont (22.4 years), Wisconsin (22.5 years), and West Virginia (22.6 years).
