There is rapid development on the third commercial airport in North Texas.

Yesterday, the McKinney planning and zoning commission approved the plans Tuesday evening to expand McKinney National Airport, and officials are confident that the airport will have commercial flights by late 2026.

The biggest hurdle now is just figuring out how exactly to pay for the expansion.  The $72 million proposal will be brought for a final review to the city’s planning and zoning meeting later tonight.

According to FOX 4 News, the expansion to McKinney National Airport would include a 45,000-square-foot passenger terminal with three initial gates, parking areas, a taxiway, and other runway equipment.
