Journey has gone through some lineup changes over the last year.
Back in 2020 it was announced that bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith had left the group and were being replaced by drummer Narada Michael Walden, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, and former ‘American idol’ judge Randy Jackson, who was previously the band’s bass player. Now, Journey’s co-founder and guitarist Neal Schon has confirmed one more addition to the band, bringing back a familiar face.
In a series of comments made on Facebook, Neal Schon revealed that drummer Deen Castronovo has rejoined the band. Answering a number of fan questions asking if Castronovo was back, Schon replied “Deen is back. We are double drummers now with Narada.” This comes after Schon teased the return of the band’s former drummer, tweeting out a photo of the two drummers with the caption “the power behind us.”
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the band is getting ready for a show in Chicago this weekend. Luckily for fans in attendance, they will get to see the return of the band’s former drummer. Maybe one day the group’s original lineup will hit the stage together one last time.
