Every dog owner thinks their pet is the best, but only one can truly be the top dog, and it may in fact be one right here in DFW. A local German short-haired pointer named Dzasper was recently nominated for the National Hero Dog Awards. Now, the service dog will go up against the other semifinalists in the law enforcement and first responder category.

Dzasper is a nine-year old retired service dog living with its family in North Richland Hills, but soon it may be known as one of the best dogs in America. After seven years serving in Transportation Security Administration as a certified explosive canine, Dzasper is being recognized by the National Dog Hero Awards. According to NBC DFW, the DFW dog was one of five semifinalists in the law enforcement and first responder category.

Throughout its career, some of Dzasper’s greatest deployments include explosive detection for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, multiple Dallas Cowboys games, sweeps of former President George W. Bush's airplane and SMU football games. Hopefully this great DFW is honored with an award, and a few treats and belly rubs as well.
