“What is the meaning of life?” That question has plagued the smartest minds throughout all of time, and is no doubt the biggest question in life.

The second biggest question is “Wait, how long has Grey’s Anatomy been on TV?”

At least we can answer the second one. Grey’s Anatomy has been airing on ABC for 22 seasons, having first aired in 2005.

It’s time for a new spin on the old show though, as ABC has revealed they have ordered a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that will be set in Texas!

According to CultureMap Dallas, the series will follow a team at a rural West Texas medical center described as “the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

The new show is co-created by Shonda Rhimes and longtime showrunner Meg Marinis, who said in a statement, “This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion, and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades, all set in my home state of Texas.”

"I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”

The show is expected to premiere some time in 2027.
